DEACON MINISTRY TEAMS

MainStreetBaptistChurch – 2009

1.    Homebound/Hospital Ministry Team – Led by Ernie Blevins

This is a ministry of contact by personal visitation, phone call, writing to persons confined to their homes, retirement home, or nursing homes. Also, this team ministers to those who are affected by hospitalization, short-term or long-term. This team wants to tell them: “You remain an important part of our lives.” or “You are not alone or forgotten in this time of crisis.”

    2.       Celebration Ministry Team – Led by Jane  Smith

This ministry is to join in celebration and thanksgiving with persons who have experienced a birthday, anniversary, baptism, graduation, or some other joyous event.  This team wants to convey the message: “We rejoice with you.”

3.    Bereavement Ministry Team – Led by Mike Church

This is a ministry of visitation to the home, funeral home, funeral service as well as providing some care items to persons affected by the death of a loved one.  Our message to them is: “You are not alone in the shadow of your loss, we walk with you.”

    4.  Prayer Ministry Team – Led by Priscilla Judd

This is a ministry of intercessory prayer for persons whose personal needs call out for such prayer. This team will pray for persons in need, as well as send out prayer cards and personal notes of encouragement.  Our message to them is: “Today I spoke to God about your need.”

5.   Small Jobs Ministry Team – Led by Eddie Davis

This is a ministry to people who need hands-on help with home maintenance or repair projects or others kinds of small needs. This ministry is tangible, touching people in a real way with the message: “Please, let us help with that.”

6. Transportation Ministry Team – Led by Doug Dofflemyer

This is a ministry to those who cannot provide their own transportation to and from MSBC services and special events, and to those who cannot provide their own transportation to and from doctors, hospitals, to pay bills, etc.  Our message to them is this: “Let us help get you here and to the other important places in your life.”

7.  Visitor Outreach Ministry Team – Led by Jeff Dovel

This is a ministry to persons new to the community served by the church.  The primary focus is to follow-up with persons who have visited our church.  Our message to them: “We care about people.  Come, let us care for you. MSBC is a place to belong…and a place to become.”

Please consider joining one of these teams -- their purpose is to provide greater ministry to our members and to the community.  We need every member of Main Street Baptist Church to be involved in at least one of these ministries.
